Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Two years later she became general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She was named the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was the host and panelist for the TV news show Meet the Press. She served on a panel for the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. She covered many notable issues, such as the weapons control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
